If you’re new here, I’m Drew. I’m a Level 1 Coach. No, that term does not mean my current level of certification.
Here’s the current skinny on me. AKA the stuff ‘most’ coaches will care about.
You’ll read the following and probably click off the page. That’s fine.
There is a certain breed of person that won’t care about the above statements. And if you’re still reading this statement, you’re probably that kind of person.
You’re more interested in what is being said and don’t care what logo is currently on my jacket.

This is me as a coach. I’m iterating on a player development machine. As a coach, you need a system, and I’m not talking 1-3-1.
Often we are looking to align with people that are on the same mission as us. Maybe you read this and reach out to connect. Maybe I’m the person you’re looking for to add to your staff this year. Or in 10 years.
If you’re being introduced to me for the first time, this is a great place to start. Enjoy the digital breadcrumbs.
Here are some things I currently believe in. Yes, I’m subject to changing my mind.
Lighthouse Leadership Philosophy
A lighthouse provides and guides:
Main Trait Want to Develop
High-Agency is defined in our culture as:
High Agency is about finding a way to get what you want, without waiting for conditions to be perfect or otherwise blaming the circumstances. High Agency people either push through in the face of adverse conditions or manage to reverse the adverse conditions to achieve outcomes. They either, “find a way or make a way.”
Human, Athlete, Hockey Player
We believe in the player development machine being all-encompassing. Human performance is about the optimization of the 4 Coactive Model.
1. Develop the Human
2. Develop the Athlete
3. Develop the Hockey Player
Player Development and Advancement
The coaching staff will do everything in our power to advance our players to the next levels of hockey. We believe all levels under the NHL are developmental leagues, players must be given more than structured practices and games on the weekend. We are a player development team committed to teaching the principles of the game. With those principles, we can teach skills based on the player’s strengths to maximize their effectiveness.
Every player must play to their strengths and second-order skills associated with the strength while making slight improvements to limiting factors. We identify these assets and limiting factors early on and get to work on a personal improvement plan through education and implementation of what skills or character traits need to be addressed. We turn the skills that are 8-10 to 10-10 and we also want to turn the 3-10 into 5-10.
By continuing to improve what makes the player unique and effective and reducing limiting factors in the 4 Coactive Model, we put the player in the best position to play at the next level.

What We Believe
The four core behaviors are behaviors that eventually lead to positive outcomes and growth. The staff understands that these are very high standards, but they are required to grow and develop into the best person, athlete, hockey player, and team. The 4 behaviors spell out the acronym PASS which is easy to remember and very meaningful to us. We want our players to live and grow with these behaviors and then pass them on in the future. Play the infinite game.
The Values
Behavior plus a sound byte.
1. Put Discipline over Default
a. “Respond not react.”
2. Always High-Agency
a. “Find a way or make a way. Not an excuse.”
3. Show Leadership
a. “Make teammates better and more productive.”
4. Show Enjoyment
The Machine
We’re trying to build a better “player development machine.”
Drop the players into the holistic, intentional environment… The Machine… and out come people that have transformed in all 4 coactives of the player development model:
Coaching is teaching. Teaching is player development.
Teach principles, not systems.
