Monique: “What are you eating?”
Me: “You don’t want to know…”
Monique: “It’s a good thing I don’t have my glasses on and you’re sitting in the dark over there then.”
Matt: *Walks over to the table and shines cell phone light into my bowl…
The next logical question after looking at what I was eating is either, “How do you do that?” or “Why do you do that?”
The how is easy. You just do it.
The why is easier. It makes me feel better.
Down in Texas, I live with the summer academy owner (Matt) and his girlfriend (Monique).
What was I eating? Not important. The lesson is, here’s Joe Rogan giving the lesson in 27 seconds:
What you eat becomes who you are.
The kicker is, you’ll never see it until you make some changes.
My junior players were always telling me, “Coach, I can still play hockey and have energy even though I drink 3 Mountain Dew sodas each day.”
My response was always, “Your body awareness has never changed because your baseline has never changed.”
In other words, you don’t know how ‘great’ even feels because your inputs aren’t even in the ‘good’ or even ‘average’ category.
Go off of it for 30 days and then try to go back to doing what you were doing before.
Spoiler: You’ll feel like shit.
As you should, your body won’t hear the messages if you’re not receptive to them.
To get more receptive, detox from it.
Your first coffee hits harder when you go 6 months without it.
Your ‘booze tolerance’ is low if you don’t drink.
You get the picture…
Reset your baseline to jump to new levels.
