Why #firecolliton is trending... and shouldn't be
As someone that holds values and principles from this clip. I feel I need to “try” to help people see what they currently don’t.

Last night during a timeout. Coach Colliton turned the board over to his players so they could draw something up.
That they were seeing. In a game that they were playing. With a leader that encourages principles of:
ownership
autonomy
trust in his players
He gives his players ownership. Behind the scenes with a leader like this, the messaging is:
This is “our” team, not “my” team
Lets use “the” best idea, not “my best idea
“I trust you players to make calls out there.”
Let’s ask one simple question that hopefully will open your minds:
What is the best faceoff play?
Don’t think too hard.
If the first thing that comes to your head is trying to narrow down your five favorite, you’re already lost…
The correct answer to what is the best faceoff play?
The one the players will run and be excited to run.
Which play will they be 100% bought into?
Probably the one they designed, right?
They are 0-5 and the fans can’t understand why the players love playing for this guy.
You know Exhibit A from above that people are losing their minds about… Well that’s one reason the players love him. And respect him. And don’t want him fired.
So instead of calling for this man’s job… Demand your favorite team hire a guy like this. Most of the coaches in the league are dinosaurs. Call for their heads.
But know this.
The league needs this kind of coach.
This guy will be coaching in the NHL in 5 years and 10 while most of the current coaches in the league get run over because they won’t adapt.
Understand these principles before you start barking.
The players want more ownership, and if you don’t understand why… Your first job is to understand why.
