What is the fastest way to lose trust with someone?
No wrong answers.
Here’s a story about how I lost trust and respect for a junior hockey coach in one phone call.
A few summers ago, I thought I wanted to move up from coaching tier 3 junior hockey to a level or two higher. I wanted to “break in” to a higher league. And sending emails and trying to set up phone calls with coaches at that level is really difficult to do. Because they don’t answer measly tier 3 coaches who “can do nothing” for them. At least, that was their perception.
But I wasn’t some shmuck. And after learning about Jack Butcher’s permissionless apprenticeship concept, I put it to work. Real quick if you’re not familiar, Jack says you can just start doing the job even if you don’t have a formal job title with a place you want to work. That’s the permissionless ethos. He’s built a course around it that now sells for only $1 if you want to check it out.
