You might have been “on the bubble” as a player before.
If you’re a New Wave Coach, you're on the bubble again…
Here’s the definition of a stock market bubble from wiki:
A stock market bubble is a type of economic bubble taking place in stock markets when market participants drive stock prices above their value in relation to some system of stock valuation.
Behavioral finance theory attributes stock market bubbles to cognitive biases that lead to groupthink and herd behavior. Bubbles occur not only in real-world markets, with their inherent uncertainty and noise, but also in highly predictable experimental markets
Connecting the dots yet?
Let’s Start With the Problem
Okay so, we have a ton of groupthink and herd behavior. Check.
A group of GMs massively overvalued and therefore drove up the assets price of all their friends (The Old Boys Club/Old Guard). Check.
Cognitive biases. Check, check and check.
There’s an NHL coaching bubble.
What does that mean for you?
A few things. Be prepared.
1. Prepare for Takeoff
When the NHL GMs get sick of players walking into their office 4 at a time and telling the GM they can’t play for this “idiot” that calls himself the coach every day… Or this keeps happening to guys…
The Wave has to happen.
They can’t keep hiring the Old Guard. They are out of options because they have been recycling the same guys for 2 generations of players. And the players are fed up.
So when the bubble pops and all that remains in the league are Don Granato, Jon Cooper and Sheldon Keefe… 27 teams are going to need new staff in short order.
What does this mean? High-velocity movement for people that can actually do the job.
The person that comes to mind is a guy like Brandon Naurato.
Just got to Michigan, still has the interim tag but if an NHL team was smart, they’d make him a HC this summer.
He doesn’t need to pay his dues, or spend 13 years at Michigan before getting a shot. He has “it”.
I can see it. And if an NHL GM can’t see it… Get fucked and get fired.
2. Prepare Yourself
If and when this massive bubble pops, the next step is to prepare yourself. This affects you.
When 28 NHL teams need a coach, people start getting sucked up from levels below which creates more space for… YOU.

The clock is ticking… You have 5 years or less (if they figure it out sooner)
