One thing I love about the Invest Like the Best Podcast is Patrick’s closing question to guests…
“What is the kindest thing that anyone has ever done for you?”
Jeremy Giffon’s answer really resonated with me:
A ton of people have taken unreasonable bets on me at a very young age with very little experience.
I’ve tweeted a bit around this idea…
The reflection question and the gratitude of the day is...
Who has put you on the map?
Who do you have to thank for betting on you when nobody else would?
Cut by 4 tier 3 teams and about ready to become a D4 ACHA player, Todd bet on a below-average high school hockey player to be a 13th forward on a team in junior hockey you can't even look up.
Opportunity.
He bet on me again in my last year of junior to play a bigger role which landed me in D3 NCAA hockey instead of the D4 ACHA I would have landed in.
That gave me life in coaching down the line...
But again, only because he bet on me again.
And then again.
Todd repeats this saying a lot:
Sometimes all a person needs to succeed is to know that just ONE PERSON believes in them
Who took an unreasonable bet on you?
