A newsletter writer has an audience. A coach has an “audience” of players.
My job in this newsletter is to keep the attention and provide value for my audience every single time I hit publish.
Your job as a coach is the same every time you interact with players.
Let’s build a mental model around this.
Audience
Your audience as a coach is fixed between 15-25 players depending on what level you coach.
If you’re in junior hockey, you have the ability for players to “unsubscribe” from your team by either asking for a trade or proactively trading them when you feel they’re no longer fitting in your community.
There are still situations where players “unsubscribe” from your messaging without leaving your program. You’ll notice these people start to affect your “open rate.”
