Old Guard: Put players in tiny boxes to self-limit them, play simpler and "wins" (short term)
New Wave: Throws the box out, nurtures, and develops talent, and wins the long game
You can win and still lose...
A question to think on:
Is what I’m about to tell the team/ player for a short term or long term win?
If short-term, reconsider the message.
Player development is the long game. Winning the long game often looks like losing/struggling short-term.
