Don’t network
Don’t even use the word network ever again
As it is the hockey offseason, I’ve been reaching out to more people who follow me in the DMs.
And my aim isn’t to ‘network’.
When I introduce myself and try and lead with value by sharing something I’ve written I’m always clued into their response.
If they say they connected/followed to ‘improve or expand’ their coaching network, it’s a bit of a red flag for me.
Do I ignore them? No. But do I let them ‘in’ as easily? Also no.
Why?
I don’t want to network and I don’t want to be networked…
Networking is a stupid fucking game to play.
The word makes me want to take a shower after I use it.
