When is the last time you had fun outside of coaching?
Take as long as you need… And before you cop out and say…
“Coaching is fun.”
or
“I don’t work a day in my life.”
We get it. You enjoy coaching…
And so do I.
But don’t be that fucking guy right now…
Answer the question.
Because coaching is “work.”
And it can be draining… Because you’re literally giving energy to people.
So spare me all the clichés about how it isn’t actually work.
Coaching is “Work”
Coaching is work. Your players want better results, and your job is to positively impact their results. That takes researching their game, knowing their strengths and what skills they can use to leverage their game to the moon. This is why you go to the rink, field or court everyday.
But when(pardon this cliche) “it’s all work and no play” things can go south in a hurry.
When I was at my worst “health” I was all work and no play.
Let’s talk about the importance of play even if you’re 50,60 or 70 years old reading this.
You Need to Play
Play is natural.
Dogs, cats, horses… They all play
