Why are they watching the same things in practice?
Let’s say you’re running a 5v5 exercise in the offensive zone. One team is working on OZ movement and trying to create chances and obviously the other team is working in DZ coverage.
As coaches, just like fans, we can be caught “puck watching.”
A lot of coaches obsess about turnovers and punish the player who “looks” responsible

But if his 4 teammates are standing still…
Pause and think about who you decide to talk to
For example, in college I was constantly yelled at by my coach for “losing 1v1 battles in the corner.”
My coach had his focus completely on the puck. I would wait for my “2nd quick” guy (immediate support player that turns the 1v1 into a 2v1 on a support trigger)
