One man’s journey is every man’s journey
-Paulo Coehlo
Dear Lower self Drew,
It’s me, your highest Self. You’ve unlearned, reprogrammed and let go of many of the obstacles holding you back from your version of success. I’m very encouraged by that.
But about once a month, you go to war with me. You’ve overall net increased your calibration, you’ve ascended states, but there’s one thing left in your way that you didn’t realize until yesterday, March 28th, 2024.
The last thing in your way is your feeling of unworthiness.
And in this letter, I plan to help you let the last thing in your way go.
Once a month, you interrupt the compounding success with your personal growth by slipping into a lower state. Your attention shifts from where you want to go, to what your senses can detect at present. And then it slips further into your past.
Your senses tell you that you ‘haven’t made it’ now and then begin to project out that you never will.
This feeling also is deep in your unconscious realm too. You don’t think of it, but the weights holding you back from launching into success stem from some past held onto, and it’s time to let that go.
Whatever state has your attention holds your life. Therefore, to become attentive to a former state is to return to that condition.
-Neville
To execute this Neville quote, let go of attention to the former state.
Feel these things as you read them on the paper one more time, don’t suppress or repress it like you did in childhood. Feel it one more time and that feeling like a wave will come in and then dissipate. And then it will be gone.
Are you ready?
At 8 you were told by a coach that you’d never make it as a hockey player. (That message would recur)
You’ve been too small, too slow, not a good enough skater, not good enough a X,Y and Z, cut from numerous teams… This leads to feeling unworthy when you don’t have the skills to ‘deal with this messaging’.
You worked so hard to get to D3 hockey just to be cut over email by the new coach in your sophomore season, and then you were too unworthy to get any sort of in-person explanation as to why.
You transferred to Iowa State only to be repeatedly scratched by your coach for reasons that your own teammates could not understand.
You got cut in pro hockey.
You were ignored by 60 D1 coaches when you reached out for volunteer opportunities to coach.
You weren’t paid your expected salary in your first ‘professional’ coaching job as a junior coach.
You’ve been ignored by the vast majority of the industry in the 4 years you’ve put your coaching and leadership thoughts out on the internet.
You reach out to coaches everyday from professional, college and junior hockey only to be ignored for being a ‘nobody’ in the industry.
You have interviewed with double digit teams in the last 4 years and haven’t fit anywhere.
And to your credit you’ve kept going… But you’ve internalized and repressed the messaging of unworthiness.
You don’t think you can ‘make it’ subconsciously right now, and that’s exactly what the world has been serving you.
Feel each one. Let this all go.
Move states to one of conviction in yourself. The opinions of others have no real power over you without your consent. Problem is, you consented, and maybe not consciously, but you did.
You are only subjected to what you hold in mind in this world.
You have the power. Time to take it back. Time to create and hold in faith, an ‘unshakable’ belief.
The same belief you put in your mind at 18 that you’d play D3 hockey even though reality said you were a below-average high school hockey player.
You did it once, you can do it again.
Faith comes with an expectation that the seed will flower. That it has already happened and time hasn’t caught up yet.
Live from the end. Live from here.
You’ve already made it. Let go of any doubt.
You’ve already made it.
I remember when you didn’t believe it.
“In the midst of all the doubts and changing opinions of others, let there be a conviction, a firmness of belief, and you shall see the dry land; your belief will appear. The reward is to him that endureth unto the end. A conviction is not a conviction if it can be shaken. Your desire will be as clouds without rain unless you believe.”
-Neville, Your Faith is your Fortune
